Surprised many in the gaming and anime world. KH is a collaboration between Disney, Disney Interactive and Square-Enix (know for their Final Fantasy series). It is an RPG on the PS2, and you play a young boy named Sora, who is welder of a weapon called the "KeyBlade". Sora's home is destroyed and his friend (a cheerful red-head)named Kairi- is taken by a force called the "Darkness" Sora is tossed into an adventure and is aided by the loveable Goofy (a knight), and short tempered Donald Duck (a wizard). Together they are looking for a light to stop the darkness. While Kingdom Hearts had a huge amount of critism from so "hardcore" gamers and anime watchers who say "i hate Disney" Kingdom Hearts has proved them wrong and has become a loved game with a good fanbase. Its a game that has made its permanent mark in game history due to its sources.

An RPG produced in 2002 by Square-Enix and Disney. Featuring character designs by Tetsuya Nomura, well known for Final Fantasy VII, VIII and X, as well as Parasite Eve 1 & 2, the game follows Sora, a 14-year-old boy on a quest to reunite with his friends Kairi and Riku. Along the way, he teams up with various Disney characters including Donald Duck, Goofy, Tarzan, Aladdin, Ariel, Jack Skellington and others as he battles the Heartless that threaten to destroy all worlds. While the gameplay was above-average and the re-playability good, many "hardcore" fans don't consider this game up to Square's standards. Tougher-than-thou fans point out the child-like simplicity of a boy defeating the darkness in people's hearts as being too kiddish, as well as making fun of the inclusion of Disney characters, because as we all know, Disney = TEH EVAL\!\!\!1 If people took the time to play the game without inhibitions and enjoy it for what it is -- Not Final Fantasy -- they might find that they would enjoy the game far more than they think. The game features various Square cameos as well as Disney, including Cloud (FFVII), Aerith (FFVII), Yuffie (FFVII), Sephiroth (FFVII), Squall/Leon (FFVIII), Selphie (FFVIII), Tidus (FFX), and Wakka (FFX). The original PS2 Kingdom Hearts spawned an array of related media, including a PS2 sequel (due the fall of 2005), a sequel for the GBA entitled Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories, and a manga series. Who knows what the future will hold for this extremely popular franchise?

A very good game, one of the best IMO, for the PS2. It came out in 2002 and boy it pushed the PS2 limits early on. The graphics are amazing, story is original, and gameplay is increadibly fun. You play the role of Sora, who's home was attacked by the main enemies called the Heartless, and swollwed by darkness. He waked up in an unknown town with what is called a "keyblade" as a weapon. For this reason do Donald and Goofy take him with them to look for their king, Mickey. Sora goes along because there is a chance of finding his lost friends, Riky and Kairi. Unlike other RPGS at this time, this game has freeform movement. As in you can go pretty much anywhere on anything you see, and you can actually jump and glide, rather than stagnant RPGs where a mere bush or slight elevation of land can make a path impassable. There is no loading time for battles, and the screen doesn't jump to another just because a battle starts. Critics call this a kidish game, when in fact it really isn't as much. I agree there is a little cute undertone to it, the story itself is original and not really understood by kids. What other game makes a giant key the weapon, disney characters allies, and doors connecting worlds that darkness is trying to consume? Not a one. You can tell when FF fanboys are crying over it because they WILL mention the small cameos from FF games and say it is popular just because of that. Frankly, I didn't buy this game because I could fight Cloud in the battle arena as well as sephiroth, and I don't think anyone really has. That is their excuse for having no good excuse to not like this great game. Or just got miffed because they didn't let you use a FF character, which is most likely the case.

I can't wait for Kingdom Hearts 2 here in the US. I am getting a copy as soon as it comes out.

The Story revolves around a 14 year old boy named Sora who becomes the key-blade master, and has to lock the heart of the worlds to save them from the heartless (Devasting shadow creatures that search for the darkness in peoples hearts) Over-all in my opinon it is a good game. Con: The camera is very annoying; it gets in your way when trying to battle certain enemies. Pro: A wonderful story line, Thats hard to not like. note: people who are writing it's a horrible game, do remember this is a dictonary, not a forum.

a kickass game that i got as a b-day present from my aunt. at first i thought it was gay because i had never play FF before and i thought the whole disney aspect was for toddlers but then i played it. the start of the game made me feel like i really didnt want to play but then it got better, and better, and better. it revealed an amazing and surprisingly dark storyline which i just loved. and the cameos from FF are class because you get to see classic charachters redone with amazing graphics (Examples:Cloud, Squall, Yuffie and my personal favourite cameo,Sephiroth) In short KH blew my brains out the back of my head with amazing force and beauty\! P.S: I think Ansem should go down in video game history for being one of the coolest villains ever\!

I'd like to take this time to say that their are a lot of people who (thankfully) like this game. And to all of you staunchly Anti-Disney jackasses: HAVE YOU EVER EVEN PLAYED THE EFFIN' GAME?\! There are many reasons to like this game, and they're NOT because of the cameos by Final Fantasy characters\! Pros: Excellent story, No loading screen involved with battles, Innovative ideas; including moving in a 3D world where you can actually jump\! Finally, I'm sick of being unable to jump. Cons: Camera is an enemy and a hindrance, Gummi Ships are awkward to build, certain people are too narrowminded to even give this wonderful game 1 try\! Why won't you play the game?\! Are you immeadiately turned off by the idea of Disney committing characters and ideas to it's construction? You can over look that, dumbass. All in all, KH is great, and unless SquarEnix actually listens to these dumbasses, it's gonna stay.

Kingdom Hearts is a great game, and if you don't think so, go to your nearest Blockbuster and actually RENT A COPY\!

A pretty good game by [Square-Enix] with a humongous [fanbase]. The fanbase of this game alone could rival those of [InuYasha], [Naruto], [Dragonball Z], and [Full Metal Alchemist]... combined. Almost 75% of all [fanart] on [deviantart] is KH-related, and about 25% of this fanart gets enough favorites to appear on Today's Favorites. It's official.. KH has attracted more fangirls than all the previously popular animes combined, since people already loved [Final Fantasy], and girls also love [Disney]. Combine these into one game - Kingdom Hearts - and you have a game that's loved by almost everyone.

About 95% of female anime artists on deviantart.com WILL make at least one fanart drawing of Kingdom Hearts characters that will appear on her gallery. The drawing will usually be of either Sora, Riku, Axel, or Roxas - sometimes more or all four of them. Who can blame them? KH is a fun game after all. Square-Enix are such geniuses..

A great game for the PS2 and Gameboy Advanced. The main focus of the first game is that you play as a 14 year old boy named Sora who is trying to save his friends Riku and Kairi and save the worlds from the Ansem and the darkness with the help of Donald and Goofy along with various Final Fantasy charachters such as Leon and Yuffie. As the game progresses you find out that Riku has been possesed by ansem. Ansems main goal is to find kingdom hearts which he believes will fill him with the power of darkness. Also KH2 and KH Chain of Memories has been realease in the U.S. as well. All are games worthy of playing.

One of the best video games I have ever played. The graphics are awesome, the story line is great, and the villians are bad. Its what got me into FFX. I can't wait for Kingdom Hearts 2.

It's about a 14 yr old boy named Sora. He is the keyblade bearer and has to go around on Chip & Dale's gummy ship to other Disney worlds trying to fight heartless. In the second game we meet a group called Organization XIII. Later in the game we find out that OrgXIII is using Sora to take control of kingdom hearts. but at the same time, Malificent, Pete & the heartless are also trying to take control of kingdom hearts. But of corse, the nobodies beat heartless any day, and...well, actually, neither of them win...Sora & all those ppl win...Well any way...in the first game, Sora gets turned into a heartless and, duh, a nobody is formed...tht nobody is Roxas...& the same thing happens to Kairi (Sora's friend & future gf...maybe...even though i dont havva crush of sora & i luv axel, I STILL HATE KAIRI\!\!\!)well any way...Kairi's nobody is Namine...a girl who can control Sora's memories by drawing stuff...

Kingdom Hearts is the BEST game in the WHOLE world\!\! my fav quotes: Sora, Donald & Goofe are in Twilight Town at the station plaza. They just woke up from their long sleep. Yea I know this word will get tons more thumb downs then thumb ups, Fuck you.

Kingdom Hearts 3 plotline: Sora and the warriors of light battle the dark forces of footlocker, Old Navy and the barber shop. Will and save the World(s) ?\!?\!?\! 0_0 ....I really hope not.

Possibly WORSE than Final Fantasy, the reason why: ITS FINAL FANTASY...WITH DISNEY CHARACTERS\! Whats next "Kingdom Spades": Final Fantasy meets Cartoon Network, "Kingdom Clovers": Final Fantasy meets Nickelodeon, or "Kingdom Diamonds": Final Fantasy meets Warner Bros. I sure don't want those things to be crapped out the asses of Sqaure.

If Kingdom Hearts and evil Square have thier way and if Kingdom Spades, Kingdom Clovers, and Kingdom Diamond are made, then we are probably going to have to kiss good, wholesome, tasteful, quality gaming goodbye.

some gay ass shitty game made popular only by the fact that the characters [cloud] and sephiroth from [final fantasy 7] appear in it. a collaboration with disney and squaresoft. perhaps it would be cool if not for the "what the fuck-edness" spawned by the sight of seeing a kick ass sephiroth one minute and then that dumb fuck donald duck or mickey mouse the next. keep in mind that if sephiroth and cloud were subtracted from the game, all the "hard core gamers" who played it would most likely think it is some lame shitty disney game that belongs in a blazing fire rather than in their ps2.

i hate disney with a passion, and thus i will always hate kingdom hearts and will never "get over" the fact that the main characters are childish retarded disney ones.

A horrible game released by SquareEnix. This game features a combination between the disney universe and the final fantasy universe. This game recieved alot of praise from Square fanboys and [otaku], who failed to notice the horrible parts (the majority of the game) due to blind loyalty to a already failing series. This game features a horrible story and horrible gameplay.

Kingdom Hearts isn't that good.
